In a world hostage to hatred and violence

My Jain faith teaches me about love and tolerance

It fills my heart with empathy and compassion

And spurs me on to respond with positive action

In a world consumed by corruption and greed

My Jain faith assists me to serve those in need

It urges me to arrest today’s rampant materialism

And live simply as per the ideals of Jainism

In a world hampered by half truths and outright deception

My Jain faith encourages me to resist such temptation

It inspires me to always listen to my conscience

And ask difficult questions with a childlike innocence

In a world crippled by conceit and arrogance

My Jain faith counsels me on humility and patience

It guides me to treat all life with reverence

And enlightens me on the virtue of non violence 

In a world riddled with revenge and vengeance

My Jain faith reminds me to repent and perform penance

It persuades me to forgive and seek forgiveness

Which in turn instils in me a sense of calmness
